Which themes does CARTO work with?
Online Store 2.0 themes that support app embeds, including Shopify’s free themes such as Dawn and Horizon. CARTO listens for add-to-cart actions from the theme and can hide the theme’s own cart drawer.
Will it slow down my store?
The drawer is one script of about 22 KB, loaded with defer from Shopify’s CDN. Its settings are embedded in the page through a shop metafield, so rendering it needs no request to our servers.
Does CARTO add products to the cart on its own?
Only a free gift you set up in a Growth campaign, once the cart qualifies, and only at $0: if Shopify’s discount does not apply, CARTO removes the line. Upsells are added only when the shopper taps Add, with the price shown first.
How do the discounts work?
Each campaign is a native Shopify automatic discount powered by CARTO’s Shopify Function. It applies in cart and checkout without a code, appears in your Shopify discounts list, and can be paused or deleted from CARTO.
Is the free-shipping bar a real discount?
On Free, the bar follows the threshold you set and you keep your shipping rates in Shopify. On Growth, a free-shipping campaign creates a real shipping discount that matches the bar.
Do I need a developer?
No. Switch on the app embed in the theme editor, style the drawer in CARTO with a live preview, then publish. No theme file is edited.
What happens when I uninstall?
The drawer disappears from your storefront immediately, access is revoked, and your remaining data is deleted within 48 hours. Nothing is left in your theme.
